A flexible, super-light protective skin for the Leica Q3 and Q3 43. Adds grip and protection while preserving the camera's classic profile.
Why it works
- Pop-off access: the bottom releases and pivots to the side, staying tethered to your strap lug. Swap battery and SD card without removing the case.
- Sits flat (Standard version): no protruding screws underneath, camera sits stable on any surface.
- Shape-holding fit: moulded to the Q3's curves. Stays put, doesn't shift, doesn't sag.
- Leica-style leatherette texture: matches the Q3's pebble grain finish. Better grip and the case looks like it belongs there.
Pick your variant
Grip or No-Grip
- Grip: adds a subtle finger ridge for one-handed shooting. Useful if you find the Q3 a bit slippery without the official handgrip.
- No Grip: keeps the Q3's classic profile. No bumps.
Standard or Tripod mount
- Standard: custom quick-release bung. Snap it on, snap it off. Sits flat. Best if you rarely tripod.
- Tripod: traditional 1/4"-20 screw mount. Compatible with most tripod plates, quick-release systems, and clip mounts, including Peak Design Capture and Arca-Swiss style plates. Includes 8mm and 10mm screws. Use the 10mm to sandwich-mount a tripod plate between the case and camera.
Material
High-quality matte TPU with a leatherette-style texture. Holds its shape, flexes for fitting, resists UV and most chemicals.
Safety
- Always use a strap or tether. The case is not a primary security solution.
- Tripod version: ensure at least 4mm of screw thread is engaged in the camera tripod socket. Tighten fully and re-check periodically.

I searched for a grip for my Leica because my grip did not feel secure. After trying the $450 leather version I found the Akara version. It is perfect! It does not shriek Leica and invite camera snatchers, it fits my hand perfectly, including rounded edges, and it pops off to remove the SD card and change the battery.
The handle is great; it gives the Q3 a comfortable grip. It also provides excellent protection for the camera's base. As for Akara, their service is fantastic. I had a small issue with the delivery, but Henley took care of it. They're very professional, and I highly recommend Akara's products and services!

Light and slim but sturdy. I love the hysteresis where it all comes back to place tight and neat after popping it out to change my battery. Unassuming and discrete but so elegant! Thank you Henley!
It's easy to snap on/off. It must be removed in order to reach the battery and the memory card slot. That is easy, but just another step.
I primarily purchased this to protect the camera body (Leica Q3). Use it when I'm doing onsite shoots, outside, with excited animals, or in crowded places.
Hi Robert, thanks for your review. We were considering making the cases with a battery cutout etc but decided as the cases take seconds to remove (we can see the access being super-convenient for some heavy users), it then leaves the underside unprotected - especially from water ingress when placing on a wet surface. We will experiment with a battery cutout to see how this works with our design though as it could work very well and the case base is thick enough to still protect the camera from a shallow amount of water on a surface.
