Terms of Service

This website is operated by Akara Labs. Throughout the site, the terms "we", "us" and "our" refer to Akara Labs. By visiting our site or purchasing from us, you engage in our Service and agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions.

1. Product Application, Material Safety & Liability

  • Customer Responsibility: Akara Labs provides specialist accessories including camera skins, base protectors, and 6-bit encoder kits. The application, use, and removal of these products are performed at the customer's own risk.
  • Material Composition & Allergies: Our camera accessories are manufactured using a flexible Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU). Our base protectors use standard commercial adhesive vinyl. While generally considered safe for everyday handling, they are not certified as medical grade or hypoallergenic. Prolonged skin contact with TPU or vinyl may, in rare cases, cause irritation for individuals with specific sensitivities. If you experience skin irritation, discontinue use immediately.
  • General Safety: Products are designed strictly as exterior protective accessories. They are not intended for ingestion. If damaged, smaller pieces may present a choking hazard. Keep out of reach of small children and pets.
  • Limitation of Liability: Except where liability cannot be limited by law, Akara Labs is not liable for damage to cameras, lenses, or other equipment, nor for adverse health effects, allergic reactions, or injuries resulting from the application, use, prolonged contact, or removal of our products. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

2. Warranty and Replacements

All cases and encoder kits carry a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects. Where a structural failure is due to a manufacturing error, we may ask for a short video or photographs of the defect to help us assess the claim and authorise a replacement. This warranty covers production faults and does not cover aesthetic wear, accidental damage, or misuse. It is in addition to your statutory rights and does not affect them.

3. International Trade & Customs

When ordering for delivery outside the United Kingdom, you are the Importer of Record. Orders to destinations outside the United Kingdom, European Union, and United States are shipped Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU) or Delivered at Place (DAP). United States orders are shipped Delivered Duty Paid (DDP), with import duties prepaid at checkout.

  • Customs & Duties: You are responsible for local import duties, taxes, and courier administrative fees on the parcel's arrival in the destination country, except where duties are prepaid by us.
  • The £135 EU Rule: We use the Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) for EU orders under £135 to streamline VAT and prevent unexpected local fees. For EU orders over £135 we apply a VAT Relief discount at checkout to offset the taxes you will pay to your local courier on import.
  • Compliance: You must comply with the laws and regulations of the country in which you are receiving the goods.

4. Modifications to Service and Prices

Prices for our products are subject to change. Any change applies to future orders only and never to an order already placed and confirmed. We may modify or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.

5. Accuracy of Billing

We may refuse or cancel an order, and may limit quantities purchased per person, household, or order. Where we cancel an order you have paid for, we will refund you in full. You agree to provide current, complete, and accurate purchase and account information for all purchases made at our store.

6. Intellectual Property

All product designs, names, and website content are the intellectual property of Akara Labs. You agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, or resell any part of the Service or our products without our express written permission.

7. Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) & Packaging

Akara Labs complies with European commercial recycling and recovery obligations for packaging materials.

8. Governing Law

These Terms of Service, and any separate agreements under which we provide you Services, are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, you also keep the benefit of any mandatory protections under the law of your country of residence.
