What is it?
A slim, flexible case for those who generally don't like using a case but appreciate the benefits of extra protection. Our design is as unobtrusive as possible, preserving the camera's compact feel while adding security and an enhanced grip.
Ideal for street photographers: Our grip provides a comfortable and secure hold, allowing the camera to rest effortlessly at your side. This design lets you raise the camera to your eye quickly and confidently, ensuring you capture the decisive moment without fatigue.
Key Features:
- Integrated Thumb Grip: The grip version includes a built-in thumb grip as well as the enhanced finger grip to dramatically improve handling and stability.
- Sits Perfectly Flat: We removed the bottom mounting screw, so your camera sits flat on any surface without wobbling.
- Quick-Release Design: The case can be removed in seconds for access to the battery and SD card.
- Secure Attachment: Our in-house developed "push-fit" mount uses the camera's tripod thread to hold the case securely in place during use.
Choose Your Style
- Grip Version: Adds built in finger and thumb grips for enhanced stability and a more confident hold.
- No-Grip Version: Keeps the profile extremely minimal, offering protection without the fuss. No finger or thumb grips but otherwise identical to the grip version.
Material
Made from a special high-quality, rubber-like matte material that:
- Holds its shape and remains flexible.
- Protects against impacts and scratches.
- Is resistant to UV light and chemicals.
- Is 100% compatible with our camera base protectors.
Please Note:
- Attachment: The case securely overlays the strap lug nearest the shutter button and is held in place by your wrist or neck strap attachment.
- Safety: For maximum safety, always use a tether (neck or wrist strap). Do not rely solely on the case to carry the weight of your camera.
- Design Iterations: We may occasionally iterate our designs, so the product you receive may have minor variations or improvements from the version in the photos.
- International Buyers: If you are purchasing from outside the UK, you may be charged import duties or taxes by your country. We have no control over these fees.

Precision-made skin/case that adds just enough at the front and back for a better grip. I'm not a fan of the metal thumb grips that take up the hot shoe, because this means I can't use a flash and gets in the way of the shutter speed and exposure comp dials - so the integrated rear thumb rest on this case is just what I want. It's theoretically easy and quick to remove this case as it's held onto the X-E5 by a "plug" that pushes up and into the tripod mount at bottom of camera, and is further held by the overall snug fit. However I'm not yet sure of the longevity of repeatedly prying it off/on. So if you frequently need access to battery and SD card, the case is an extra thing to deal with taking it off/on - though I use USB-C charging and Fuji app for wireless transfer of jpegs to phone. The case also blocks the bluetooth button. All that to say, those who don't want the bulk/weight of L-brackets, this is the sleek solution you're looking for, but it's not without compromise. Time will tell if the form/shape/rigidity holds.
The FUJIFILM X-E5 Slim Skin Case fits perfectly on the camera, almost like a custom glove. It noticeably improves handling, giving a more secure and comfortable grip during shooting sessions. The added layer of protection is an appreciated bonus without adding bulk. A smart accessory that complements the X-E5 beautifully.
When I purchased my X_E5, it was because it was light. But the grip was quite narrow. So I purchased smallrig grip but that added weight and no gripfor my thumb. I then found Akara labs and decided to take a chance on this product. I am so glad I did. It adds no weight but gives the perfect amount of grip both front and back. It is easy to put on and once ther, takes about 2 seconds to remove enough to get at the battery/SD card or tripod mount.
I did chat to the support team and they were very responsive.
Highly recommended.
