What is it?
A protective skin for the first generation digital Leicas (M8, M9, M9-P, Monochrom). It helps protect the older, potentially more brittle coatings and baseplates of these classic digital bodies.
Ideal for the digital classic:
Preserve your M8 or M9 with a case that fits like a glove. The added grip is a welcome addition for these slightly thicker bodies.
Key Features
- Smart "Pop-Off" Access: You do NOT need to take the case off completely. Simply pop the bottom loose and pivot it to the side to remove the baseplate. The case remains attached to the strap lug, keeping it safe and handy.
- Sits Perfectly Flat: (Standard Version) Ensures stability on flat surfaces.
- Baseplate Protection: Protects the removable baseplate from scratches.
Choose Your Style
- Grip Version: Adds confidence when holding the camera with added front finger grip and rear thumb grip.
- No-Grip Version: Minimalist protection.
Choose Your Mount
- Standard: Uses our custom quick-release "bung" insert. Best for those who prioritize speed and immediate access.
- Tripod: Replaces the quick-release insert with a traditional tripod screw. Enables the use of tripod plates and Peak Design anchors directly on the case, offering a more secure, semi-permanent attachment.
Material
Made from a special high-quality, rubber-like matte material.
Please Note
- Safety: Always use a tether (neck or wrist strap).
- International Buyers: If you are purchasing from outside the UK, you may be charged import duties or taxes by your country. We have no control over these fees and do not benefit from them.

This close-fitting case is a complete contrast from the usual bulky leather or ‘pleather’ cases that are most often seen. It adds almost nothing to the size of the camera while offering tough protection from scratches and scrapes. It is well made and in my opinion enhances the appearance of the camera. It is available with or without a hand grip. I chose the version with grip and found it effective and comfortable.
